Magical Doolin – Susan’s Favourites

I always wished I could find another Doolin but alas “there is only one Doolin”. Our beautiful village is a land of fairies, music, craic, magical landscapes with amazing and unique people who cherish their homeland. Below are a few tips to help you make the most of your stay at Daly’s House B&B and unlock the secrets of Doolin.

Take your time

When you visit Doolin, the best tip I can give anyone is to take your time. I would say at least 3 days, which will allow you to meet the locals and “feel the beat”, a unique rhythm of life and love of the land and sea.

Enjoy a sea swim

Taking a dip in the Atlantic ocean on the Wild Atlantic Way is a truly amazing experience. You can join the “Doolin Mermaids”, a group of local people who meet up every morning at the Pier for their daily swim. Check out the Doolin Swimmers on Instagram !

Connect with the landscape

Once you check-in at Daly’s House B&B, I would recommend to leave your car here and go for a walk or even a bike ride. By walking or cycling, you can get up close and personal with the sheer beauty and wonders of Doolin. There are many highways and byways around the village, and getting off the beaten track is the perfect way to connect with your surroundings.

Walk the Doolin Cliffs Walk with Pat Sweeney

You can walk from Doolin to the Cliffs of Moher along the Atlantic ocean and will enjoy the most breathtaking views. But to make the most of it you should definitely do it with our local guide Pat Sweeney of Doolin Cliff Walk. This is a unique experience as beside the wonderful landscape you will also have a unique experience with Pat. He is such a character and expert on local history and folklore, you are guaranteed a great time!

Discover The Burren with Tony Kirby

There is no better way to explore the Burren than a guided walk with the amazing Tony Kirby of “Heart of Burren Walks“, who was featured on the “No Frontiers” travel series on RTE Television. Tony will take wonderful care of you and introduce you to the wonderful  spirituality and archeology of the Burren as well as its unique landscape.

Take a boat trip to Inis Oírr

Inis Oírr is my favourite of the Aran Islands. It is also the smallest and closest to Doolin. Hop on a ferry at Doolin Pier for this little piece of heaven, walk or cycle the quiet, charming roads of the island. Take in the many sites such as the lighthouse and the shipwreck of the Plassey and then enjoy the sandy beach and dip in the blue waters before returning to Doolin.

Experience the magic of the sessions

As the evening comes you will be ready for pint and some delicious food in one of the local pubs. Listen to a good blast of Irish traditional music, immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the session and bring home memories that will last a lifetime.
